BioWare has campaigned for months that SWTOR would be a groundbreaking story-driven MMO that uses collaborative decision tools and voice acting for quest interactions with NPCs. So I was most interested to see how big a part storyline played in character development, how closely or loosely class storylines were intertwined with each other... and whether or not the whole thing was as unique and robust as advertised. Well... if the smoothness and polish of the beta product is any indication, then the game is well on its way to becoming what they hoped it would be.

For my adult site subscriptions I set up generic search engine email accounts, using a different one for each subscription. They served well as login IDs and spam buckets, and passwords were created using an 8-bit alphanumeric random password generator. Also created was a browser Favorites list of websites that worked as front door entry source reference URLs, ensuring login origins were misleading. My favorites were government watchdog sites, fail political propaganda websites and web pages or articles containing endearing content which I thought deserved sex site pingbacks.

World of Warcraft's primary game play directive has become one of herding the masses into end game as quickly as possible in pursuit of ensuing major expansion sales. But to physically make it through end game requires a player to invest serious time and study outside of the game, regardless of how helpful a player's guild might be. Based on this trend one can surmise that 86% of WoW subscribers are not up to that task and I truly believe Blizz is alienating them as a result.

Which brings me to the 2009 blockbuster movie “Avatar’ by James Cameron. When it first hit the theaters Avatar was panned for its content. Industry critics didn’t appreciate Avatar as a feature film because it relied too much on computer generated graphics for it's main characters. Yet Avatar’s visual effects achieved record box office stardom. The movie supposedly lacked storytelling, weathering accusations of plageurized plotlines. Yet those same plotlines managed to stir up far reaching moral and political debates on subjects that prompted certain interest groups to publicly go on the defensive.

James Cameron has got to be laughing his ass off all the way to the bank.

Brutal Mode aside, there is also a sizable library of World of Warcraft-style achievements available that players can chase, both in campaign mode (on Casual, Normal and Hard Mode settings) as well as in PvP mode. The campaign is broken down into seven mission trees, three of them conclude with having the player choose one of two campaign plot paths. The campaign's closing mission tree has a final plot branch that is a point of no return. Once this mission is completed the entire final mission tree is no longer available for replay, precluding the player from earning every possible mission achievement within a single campaign.

Lawmakers are allowing its constituents’ personal information to be pimped out for their political gain, and then letting door-to-door salestypes openly walk the public streets with it. Protection of personal privacy is now so far out of reach for even the most technically aware American citizen that there isn’t a damn thing we can do about it without risking civil war.

Still vivid were memories of a scary Saturday night when the Rams preseason game against the Bears was stopped because of the violence. The countless cracks of gunfire echoing through the streets as we hauled ass out of there replayed in our heads at full volume every time we went back.
